It’s summer and St. Pete Beach Public Library has a ton of activities for its residents this month of June. Activities are available for both the young ones and the young at heart. Check out these events and join the fun at the library!
Socrates Cafe
June 2, 11:00 a.m. Join a discussion group that seeks to engage in a dialog that is respectful and challenging. Inspired by Christopher Phillips and his book Socrates Cafe: A Fresh Taste of Philosophy.
Summer Reading
Summer Reading kicks off on June 3rd at 11 a.m. as kids met with Deputy Fineberg and his K-9 Ronin. Come to the library and pick up your summer reading Bingo cards and swag bags for the kids. Kids get a reusable back filled with a reading log, a Pinellas County Summer Reading Passport, Reading with the Rays card, a special prize and a program guide to keep you in the loop about the summer events in the library.
The summer reading theme is “All Together Now.” Check out the Library’s social media accounts for a list of recommended books to read each week.
Music and Movements Story Time
Tuesdays, 10:00 a.m. Join Ms. Alexa every Tuesday mornings for singing, dancing, and a story.
Donut Happy Hour
Get to mingle and socialize with friends while enjoying donuts and coffee on June 7 at 11 a.m.

June 9, 12:00 p.m. During this presentation, participants will meet winged ambassadors and learn about the sanctuary and their special birds.
Buschistory Topics in American History
June 6, 3:30 p.m. Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter Part 2 as presented by David Busch.
BayCare Kids: Adventure Into Health
June 8, 15, 22, 29, 11:00 a.m. also on July 13 and 20. Go on an adventure throughout the world learning about proper handwashing, water safety, importance of daily physical activity, and proper nutrition. Each week, kids will learn about a continent, an animal from that continent with a specific health topic. Each session includes an activity, a song, an animal puppet, and a new book.
Herpetology 101 (Grades K-12)
June 13, 11:00 a.m. Across Florida, we can find reptiles and amphibians. In this class, we get a visit from Tampa Bay watch, our animal ambassadors, to show participants what makes these creatures unique.
Music with Mr. Brad
June 14, 11:00 a.m. Bring your babies, toddlers, and preschoolers for a high-energy performance of familiar sing-along songs with Mr. Brad.
Novel Idea Book Club
June 15, 2:00 p.m. Join the library for a discussion of Anne Frank: A Diary of a Young Girl.
Baby Time (0-18 months)
June 16, 10:00 a.m. Bring your babies for an interactive story time. enjoy a story, lap bounces, rhymes, and opportunities to share a love of books.
Game On: BEAM
June 17 and 24, 11:00 a.m. Try the interactive projector game for all ages. The 20-minute session is for up to 4 people. This is a full body gaming experience. Don’t forget to bring your socks.
The Butterflies of Pinellas County
June 20, 4:00 p.m. Ron Smith, author of The Birds of Pinellas County, will share with us the details and adventures of his latest Pinellas County butterfly book.
Florida Native Plant Gardening
June 21, 2:00 p.m. From swamps to beaches, Florida native plants dazzle and delight while providing ecological services and wildlife habitat. Liza Ryan, a UFIFAS Master Gardener Volunteer will present how to garden Florida Native Plants.

Loose Threads: Fiber Arts Group
June 26, 12:00-2:00 p.m. This activity is great for anyone who is interested in knitting, stitching, quilting, felting, sewing, crocheting, or any other fiber art. Work on your projects while sharing ideas. This is not a teaching class and is open to all skill levels.
Princess and Hero Royal Ball
June 27, 4:00-5:00 p.m. The library has enlisted the help of @partypopins to provide magical entertainment. Step into a frosty fairytale world filled with singing, games, and dancing. Wear your finest attire fit for heroic royalty. Space is limited to 25 participants and caregivers must remain present during the program.
Cesar Domico Stage Comedy and Magic (Adult Program)
June 28, 6:00 p.m. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library, this adult program is a great mix of magic and comedy from Cesar Domico.
Family Crafternoon: B is for Bookworm
June 29, 1:00 p.m. Come to the library for a crafting session.
Interactive Film (for all ages)
June 30, 12:30 p.m. The Princess Bride. Help the princess overcome odds to find happiness in this interactive movie experience. The activity includes snacks, props, and movement to make an extra fun movie time.
